At Kaipara Flats School, our intention is for the House system to add to our school culture and encourage a sense of team spirit and healthy competition.

Each year, eight new house leaders are appointed to lead the four Houses: Kauri/Blue, Rimu/Green, Rata/Red and Kowhai/Yellow. The house leaders are responsible for running house assemblies, competitions, fundraising activities and events. They also support teachers and younger children through their role as leaders of their house.

The house system recognises the importance of our school values, which is represented by our house cup that is awarded every term and to the overall house winner at Prize Giving at the end of the year. To win the cup, Pukeko Points are given out to children living our school values by our school leaders and staff. The house cup encourages kindness, positive behaviour and values.

Upon enrolment at Kaipara Flats School, your child will be assigned a house colour. At an assembly, your child will be presented with a certificate to welcome them to our school and their assigned house. You may wish to liaise with your teacher on when the certificate will be presented. Siblings are placed in the same house.

Throughout the year, we run various house competitions as well as house activities often organised and run by the house leaders themselves. Points are awarded for showing our school values, participation and achievements in house activities.

To build the house spirit, we encourage children to wear house colours at house events, the sillier the better!

We look forward to seeing you cheer on our talented children during the house events throughout the year!
